Studio No. 7

Imagine If… you never gave up on seeing your vision through to the end

Shannon and Earl are the owners and creative forces behind Studio No. 7.

The bar+lounge is a neighborhood gathering place with global influences. The studio houses an art gallery, kitchen, bar, and lounge. But their story might be the most inspiring piece of their collection.

In 2011 Shannon came up with the idea to fill a void she saw in Atlanta. She says “I wanted something that combined creative elements with great food, original drinks, and amazing service”. Along the way she and Earl began working to bring the vision to life. Earl says “I was a believer and willing to do anything to work with Shannon”.

Many months of preparation later, Studio No. 7 was set to open in June 2012. One night, the team hosted family and friends for their soft launch. After an amazing celebration Shannon got the 3am call that every business owner fears. “They told me the building burned down”, she recalls. All was not lost but Studio No. 7 was severely damaged. The roof was destroyed and nearly all the furniture lost.

Yet in the spirit of Atlanta, Studio No. 7 rose from the ashes. Earl recalls, “we were told that it would take 4 months to make repairs. That became 9 months, then longer, and eventually stretched to 2 years!” However, the setback was the best thing that could’ve happened to the dream. The delay gave Shannon time to travel and refine the concept. Earl immersed himself in the service industry and raised capital to buy into the business. All the while, Atlanta continued to evolve and embrace creative gathering spaces; ultimately, creating an atmosphere that better appreciates Studio No. 7’s vision.

In August of 2014 Studio No. 7 officially opened to the public. Its profile is growing and the many years of persistence paying off. The duo says, “this is really hard work. We sacrifice so much and face challenges every day. But we feel so happy to be here.” When asked what they envision Studio No. 7 to be Shannon and Earl simply say “we want to be a space for the creative dreamer”. After all they’ve endured creating their own dream, it’s certain that Studio No. 7 is already hitting the mark.
